Hi everyone:
Here are the upcoming postings for you to choose from:

Come ski at Craftsbury located in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom and start the New Year with fresh air, cross-country skiing, and delicious food that is primarily locally sourced. Craftsbury has over a 100 km of groomed trails which can accommodate a range of ski levels, and there is a Nordic Center if you desire to rent skis or snowshoes. Craftsbury is known for having an early snow season, but if the skiing is lean, we will snowshoe or winter hike. In the evening we will socialize with games, an outside fire, or relax with a favorite book.
Leaders: Dia Prantis, Jeannine Audet
Come spend the long weekend at a lovely inn that is our home base for 3 nights. Each day we will be able to ski on different groomed trails at Waterville Valley. Those who wish to do a day of downhill skiing have that option as well. Waterville Valley does a fantastic job of grooming trails that vary from easy to difficult. Lessons are also offered for those who want a refresher. Often we end a day of skiing with yoga, a sauna, and happy hour! The inn offers various sitting areas where we play games, do puzzles, play pool, or are able to just sit by the fire with a book! Meals are a combination of food being provided along with participants bringing side items so that we have a potluck of choices. Participants will have 1-2 roommates. This is a popular weekend, so you'll want to make your reservations early!
Leaders: Dia Prantis, Heather Mills
Join us for a 3 night XC lodge to lodge skiing adventure in the Maine North Woods where the conditions include groomed trails and likely the best snow you can find in New England! We will meet at the parking area for Little Lyford and ski as a group to the lodge, approx. 7 miles. Saturday there are a variety of beginner and intermediate trails around Little Lyford to explore. Sunday we will ski to Gorman Chairback which will be about 6.5 miles and spend the night there. On Monday, we ski back to the parking lot, 7 miles, where we parked our cars to depart for home. AMC transports our gear for us from the parking lot and between the lodges. Also, both lodges have wood fired saunas which offer the perfect way to relax at end the day! This weekend is rated moderate and skiers with intermediate skills will find this trip the most enjoyable.

She burst through the smoky water, barely audible with illuminating sun rays that appeared to push her along , She was a scalloper traversing the entrance of the canal from southern waters intent on engaging the open sea.
Her name- Lady Dee- belies the gritty work ahead. Resilient and capable to keep her crew safe she was about to set sail on an adventure with a commercial purpose but an intrepid engagement.
Anytime we bound out to sea there is danger. ____________________________________________________ Join me on a delightful walk starting from the Scusset Beach Fishing Pier towards the mouth of the canal and onto Scusset Beach. Along the way I will tell the story of Lady Dee and boats like her that bring the bounty of the oceans to our tables.
We will walk a total of 4.5 miles with 3.5 miles on canal walk pavement and then soft sand at Scusset Beach. From the vantage point of the beach we will first turn north and view Sagamore Beach bluffs and northern coastlines, and then, direct our attention southerly to view the oyster bed flats of Dennis, preceded by Sandwich beaches and dotting bluffs and beaches in between.
Bring water, sturdy hiking shoes for soft sand, layers for potentially blustery December winds on the Canal and open beach (jackets, hats, gloves), poles if desired.

Enjoy a moderate winter hike to Doublehead Mountain, whose North Peak (3053 feet) and South Peak (2939 feet) comprise a 52 WAV hiking adventure. Doublehead Mountain offers a challenging winter hike rewarded by several viewpoints to enjoy diverse and spectacular White Mountains vistas.
We will begin by climbing up the Doublehead Ski Trail to the North Doublehead summit where, behind a cabin, we will get our first views (primarily of Mountain Pond, North Kersarge and the flatlands of Maine). After starting down Old Path on a rugged, steep, rocky path, we will seek a side trail for views of the village of Jackson and Black Mountain below and distant views of the Sandwich Range and the Franconia Ridge, as well as Mount Resolution, and Stairs Mountain.
Continuing down Old Path we will reach the col between the Doubleheads before ascending 150 feet to the summit of South Doublehead. From here a side path on the right will lead us to an open ledge with panoramic White Mountain views including Mount Washinton and Mount Adams, the Wildcat and Carter Mountains, Carter Notch, Mount Resolution, and Stairs Mountain. Returning to the col we will head down the steep slopes of the New Path to return to Dundee Road.
Although, short in milage, steep grades make this hike challenging (3.7 miles and 1,712 feet elevation). Participants should expect to spend 5 or more hours in cold winter conditions. Recent winter hiking experience, as well as snowshoes, microspikes, and warm, layered non-cotton clothing is required.

We love chatting with Randi Minetor! Join us to discuss the 10th anniversary (and fully revised & updated 2nd edition!) of her book, "Death in Glacier National Park: Stories of Accidents and Foolhardiness in the Crown of the Continent". Randi author of eight books (working on the 9th!) in the non-fiction "Death in the National Parks" series, explores the fatal mistakes people make when they venture into unfamiliar wilderness. Collected here are some the most gripping accounts in park history and new stories about people losing the battle with natural forces or perishing from their own folly. Be ready for your upcoming summer vacation plans with this important and, probably, humorous presentation!
Note: This program will be recorded and a link will be sent to all registrants soon after the program. It will be available on YouTube for one month.
About Randi : Born and raised in Rochester, NY, Randi Minetor discovered the backcountry wonders of America's national parks in 1992 with her husband, photographer/lighting designer Nic Minetor. That first trip changed her life, and by 2000, the Minetors had pledged to see all 430 national parks in their lifetimes. They found a way to subsidize this passion in 2006, when they began writing and photographing books on the parks for The Globe Pequot Press (now Rowman & Littlefield). Today Randi has written more than 90 books, including seven books in the nonfiction Death in the National Parks series, ten hiking guides in New York State, several bird-finding guides, and even reference books on health topics. To date, they have visited 364 national parks. In addition, Nic's photography appears in eight Quick Reference Guides to the Birds, Trees, and Wildflowers of New York City and New York State, and the Trees and Wildflowers of the Mid-Atlantic States. The Minetors live in Rochester, NY. Please register for this event and you'll receive the link in the confirmation and reminder emails - make sure to check your spam folder for them. It’s not every year that you turn 150 years old—but in 2026, AMC does! What better way to mark this milestone than with a year-long celebration filled with outdoor adventures, including a 1,500-mile relay stretching from Virginia to Maine. Since 1876, AMC has been connecting people to the outdoors through recreation, education, and conservation. Each leg of the relay contributes to a continuous route across the Northeast, showcasing the diversity of AMC’s outdoor legacy. Join the celebration by participating in a relay segment, attending a local event, or sharing your AMC story. Together, we’ll honor the past and shape the future of outdoor adventure. About This Hike: This relay segment is a three-day, two-night trek across the Northern Presidential Range, with overnight stays at Lakes of the Clouds Hut and Madison Spring Hut. Mt. Madison (5,363 ft.) Weather permitting, we’ll be rewarded with some of the most breathtaking views in the White Mountains, as well as the songs of alpine birds along the way.

In addition to incredible hiking, we’ll enjoy the legendary hospitality of AMC’s High Mountain Huts. At both Lakes of the Clouds and Madison Spring, the Croo will provide hearty dinners, breakfasts, warm blankets, and pillows. Evening entertainment and naturalist talks make the experience even more memorable. And don’t miss the magic of stepping outside after dinner to see the stars from high above the valley—it’s an unforgettable sight.
